TC AMERICANS: Eric Comrie, Americans Officially Launch the Comrie Saves Hunger Drive

Kennewick, WA- Eric Comrie has teamed up with Second Harvest Tri-Cities to officially launch the Comrie Saves Hunger campaign.

Designed to help raise money and awareness for Second Harvest Tri-Cities, Eric will donate 50 cents out of his own pocket to Second Harvest Tri-Cities for every save he makes during a home game this season.  As of today, Comrie has stopped 336 shots through 12 home games this season, bringing the current donation amount to $168.  Additionally, the Tri-City Americans have opted to match Eric’s donations dollar for dollar.

“Every day I get to come home to a nice warm meal and some people don’t have that privilege,” Comrie said. “We have so much to give that we should support those less fortunate than us.”

Fans are encouraged to join the cause by making cash donations as well to help raise funds. Also, a bin will be set-up at all home games for fans to donate non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Fans can also donate online by visiting the Second Harvest Website.

"The holiday season can be even more challenging for families who already are struggling to put food on the table,” said Rod Wieber, Chief Resource Officer of Second Harvest. “Our food bank network is feeding more people than ever before and donations like this from the Tri-City Americans mean so much.”

Additionally, the Comrie Saves Hunger drive will be woven into the monthly Kadlec Regional Medical Center Book and Food Drive games. There are four more games where you can bring non-perishable food items and new or gently used children’s books to the game to donate. Proceeds will benefit The Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia and Second Harvest Tri-Cities. During each game, all donors will be entered to win an 16 GB NOOK Color Tablet for every item they donate that night, courtesy of Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Last Friday’s season-opening drive resulted in 179 books and 241 pounds of food being donated to their respective charities.
