WARRIORS ELIMINATE PATS – Brayden Point and Cody Beach each scored their third goals of the playoffs as the Moose Jaw Warriors tallied four goals in the first period en route to a 5-2 win over the visiting Regina Pats in Game 5 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference quarter final series in WHL playoff action on Friday night.

The win lifts the Warriors to a 4-1 victory in the best-of-seven series versus the Pats, and books them a place in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference semi final.

Justin Kirch and Torrin White also scored in the first period while James Henry tallied a goal and an assist for the Warriors, who will meet the Medicine Hat Tigers in the second round of the 2012 WHL playoffs.  Luke Siemens made 14 saves in the win for Moose Jaw.

Trent Ouellette and Lane Scheidl scored for the Pats, who won the series opener last Friday but lost the next four games as they see their season come to an end.  Adam Beukeboom made 27 saves in the loss for the Pats.

KAL TIRE WHL WESTERN CONFERENCE

CHIEFS 5, GIANTS 1

Mitch Holmberg scored twice to lead the visiting Spokane Chiefs to a 5-1 triumph over the Vancouver Giants in Game 5 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter final series on Friday.

Liam Stewart, Darren Kramer and Blake Gal also counted for the Chiefs, who earn their third consecutive win in the series while also becoming the first road team to win in the series.  Eric Williams made 23 saves to claim his third consecutive victory.

Brendan Gallagher scored his fifth goal of the series for the Giants, who now trail the best-of-seven set 2-3 after leading 2-0 after the opening two games.  Adam Morrison made 19 saves in the loss.

The series heads back to Spokane for Game 6 on Sunday.
