BLAZERS HOST ROCKETS – Colin Smith and the Kamloops Blazers (32-14-2-3) welcome Myles Bell and the Kelowna Rockets (37-10-2-1) for a battle between B.C. Division powers in the lone Western Hockey League contest on Monday.
The Blazers are coming off a 4-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night for their second consecutive victory, and currently sit in second place in the B.C. Division – eight points back of Kelowna. The Blazers are 18-4-1-1 on home ice this season. Smith ranks third in the WHL in scoring with 76 points this season.
The Rockets skated to a 6-2 win over the visiting Raiders on Saturday night, stretching their win streak to six games and their home-ice win streak to 21 games, and currently sit four points back of Portland for first place in the overall WHL standings. The Rockets have scored 100 more goals than they have allowed this season. Bell leads the Rockets and is tied for eighth in the WHL scoring race with 64 points.
It’s the fifth meeting of the season between the Rockets and Blazers. The Blazers won the first two meetings back in September, but the Rockets took the two most recent encounters.
