AMERICANS DOUBLE UP COUGARS – Connor Rankin scored two goals to lead the visiting Tri-City Americans to a 6-3 victory over the Prince George Cougars in the lone Western Hockey League match-up on Monday.
Justin Feser scored and set up another to hit the 100-point mark for the season while Mitch Topping, Lucas Nickles and Beau McCue also scored for the Americans (39-23-1-2), who pots their second win in a row and leapfrog Spokane into fourth place in the Western Conference. Troy Trombley made 34 saves to post his seventh win in 10 appearances for Tri-Cities this season.
Marc McNulty, Brett Roulston and Jari Erricson got the goals for the Cougars (18-38-2-6), who went 1-for-6 on the power play as they suffer their fifth consecutive loss. Brett Zarowny made 27 saves in the loss for Prince George.
