Edmonton, AB - It is with great sadness the Edmonton Oil Kings announce the passing of John Laxdal the father of Oil Kings Head Coach Derek Laxdal. On Sunday morning, John passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side in his home in Stonewall, Manitoba at the age of 75. John was an educator and a proud supporter of his son Derek throughout his playing days and his coaching career. Preparations are being made with a funeral service to be held next weekend in Stonewall. 

The Edmonton Oil Kings extend their deepest condolences to the Laxdal family during this difficult time.
