Blainville-Boisbriand, QC – Team QMJHL takes on Team Russia for the opening game of the 2012 SUBWAY® Super Series on Monday evening in Blainville-Boisbriand, QC (7:00pm ET; Sportsnet).

It’s the 10th anniversary of the annual event that sees a Russian side play two games each against select teams from the three CHL member Leagues.  The series serves as an evaluation for Canadian-born players for the IIHF World Junior Championship.

Florida Panthers prospect Jonathan Huberdeau of the Saint John Sea Dogs is joined by fellow NHL prospects Phillip Danault of the Victoriaville Tigres, Charles Hudon of the Chicoutimi Sangueneens and Xavier Ouellette of the hometown Blainsville-Boisbriand Armada, and top 2013 NHL Draft prospect Nathan MacKinnon of the Halifax Mooseheads on Team QMJHL, who will look to snap a four-game losing streak versus the Russians in the event.

Team Russia boasts a talented lineup that includes Nail Yakupov, who was the first overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.  Chosen by the Edmonton Oilers, Yakupov will be making his North American return after playing the last two seasons for the OHL’s Sarnia Sting.  Saskatoon Blades goaltender Andrey Makarov will suit up for Russia in the two games versus Team WHL next week.

All games of the 2012 SUBWAY® Super Series can be seen live on Sportsnet.
