THURSDAY'S WHL MATCH-UP

AMERICANS HOST THUNDERBIRDS – Connor Rankin and the Tri-City Americans (17-10-1-1) host Roberts Lipsbergs and the Seattle Thunderbirds (14-13-1-0) for a match-up between U.S. Division clubs in the lone WHL contest on Thursday.

The Americans edged the Giants 4-3 in Vancouver on Saturday night, snapping a three-game losing skid, and currently sit in third place in the U.S. Division standings.  The Ams’ power play is clicking at a 25.9% clip on home ice this season.  Rankin has nine goals this season, good for second among Ams players.

The Thunderbirds are coming off a 3-1 victory over the visiting Kamloops Blazers on Sunday for their second straight win and their third in their last four games, and currently sit in fourth place in the U.S. Division.  Lipsbergs has scored seven goals over his last four games, and has racked up 11 goals and 14 points over his last nine outings.

It’s the second meeting of the season between the Americans and Thunderbirds.  The T-Birds managed a 3-1 win over the visiting Ams in the first meeting on October 26th in Kent, WA.
