OIL KINGS SHUT DOWN PATS – Michael St. Croix scored and set up two more while Tristan Jarry stopped 24 shots to post his sixth shutout of the season as the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings blanked the Regina Pats 7-0 in Western Hockey League action on Thursday.
Henrik Samuelsson, T.J. Foster and Mitch Moroz each tallied a goal and an assist while Martin Gernat – with his first of the season – Dylan Wruck and Keegan Lowe also scored for the Oil Kings (40-11-2-3), who stretch their winning streak to 10 games and now sit just four points behind Portland fir first place in the overall WHL standings.
Teagan Sacher stopped seven of nine shots he faced through the opening period, taking the loss, while Matt Hewitt made 29 saves over the final two periods in relief for the Pats (19-30-3-3), who suffer their third straight loss.
BLAZERS 6, SILVERTIPS 0
Cole Cheveldave made 20 saves to claim his third shutout of the season as the Kamloops Blazers skated to a 6-0 victory over the visiting Everett Silvertips on Thursday.
Cole Ully scored twice and set up another while JC Lipon – with a goal and an assist – Tyler Hansen, Marek Hrbas and Dylan Willick also scored for the Blazers (36-15-2-3), who scored all six of their goals at even strength as they post their third win in a row.
Daniel Cotton turned aside 29 of 35 shots fired his way in the loss for the Silvertips (21-29-1-4), who see their losing skid hit five games and remain in seventh place in the Western Conference.
