BRETT SONNE AND THE CALGARY HITMEN HOST JEFF LEE AND THE EDMONTON OIL KINGS LIVE ON SHAW – The Calgary Hitmen (43-7-3-1) host the Edmonton Oil Kings (23-26-2-4) for a Central Division match-up in one of four Western Hockey League contests on Tuesday, February 3rd.

Tuesday night’s contest between the Oil Kings and Hitmen can be seen live throughout western Canada on SHAW (7:00pm MST).

The Hitmen are coming off a 7-6 overtime loss to the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday for only their third setback on home ice all season, and currently sit 12 points clear for first place in the Eastern Conference.  The Hitmen have outscored their opposition 141-65 at home this season.  Brett Sonne has six goals and 12 points over his last six games.

The Oil Kings are coming off Saturday’s 1-0 shutout win over the visiting Regina Pats, snapping a two-game losing skid, and currently sit tied with Prince Albert and Regina for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.  The Oil Kings are 10-12-1-2 on the road this season.  Jeff Lee (18g-35a) leads the Oil Kings with 53 points this season.

It’s the sixth and final meeting of the season between the Oil Kings and Hitmen.  The Oil Kings won the first meeting, but the Hitmen prevailed in the last four encounters.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, the Kamloops Blazers (25-24-1-4) welcome B.C. Division rivals the Kelowna Rockets (29-19-1-2).

The Blazers are coming off Saturday’s 6-4 win over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers for their second straight victory, and currently occupy fifth place in the Western Conference standings.  The Blazers are 15-11-1-1 on home ice this season.  C.J. Stretch has points in 14 of his last 15 contests.

The Rockets are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent, WA, on Saturday, snapping a three-game winning streak, and currently hold a six-point lead over Kamloops for fourth place in the Western Conference.  The Rockets are 1-1-1-2 in their last five road games.  Cody Almond ranks second on the Rockets with 25 goals this season.

Brayden Schenn and the Brandon Wheat Kings (34-15-3-1) host Landon Ferraro and the Red Deer Rebels (17-26-1-7) on Tuesday.

The Wheat Kings are coming off Saturday’s 7-6 overtime victory in Calgary over the Hitmen for their 17th victory in their last 21 games, and currently trail Saskatoon by six points for first place in the East Division.  Brayden Schenn broke a four-game goalless drought with a pair of tallies in Saturday’s win in Calgary.

The Rebels are coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday for their second straight setback, and currently sit in sixth place in the Central Division.  The Rebels have won just five times on the road this season.

In other WHL action on Tuesday, Curtis Hamilton and the Saskatoon Blades (37-12-3-1) host Brett Leffler and the Regina Pats (23-25-1-5) for an East Division match-up.

The Blades saw a 10-game winning streak come to an end with Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors, but remain in second place in the Eastern Conference.  The Blades have outscored their opponents 201-138 this season.

The Pats dropped a 1-0 decision in Edmonton to the Oil Kings on Saturday for their fourth defeat in five games, and currently sit tied for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.  Brett Leffler leads the Pats with 28 goals this season.
