ZACH BOYCHUK AND THE LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES HOST WALKER WINTONEAK AND THE SASKATOON BLADES LIVE ON SHAW – Zach Boychuk and the Lethbridge Hurricanes welcome Walker Wintoneak and the Saskatoon Blades for Game 3 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final series on Tuesday, March 24th.

Tuesday night’s WHL Playoff contest between the Hurricanes and Blades can be seen live throughout western Canada on SHAW (7:00pm MST).

The Hurricanes evened up the best-of-seven series at 1-1 with a 5-2 win over the Blades on Saturday after dropping the opener 5-1 the previous night.  Boychuk notched three goals and an assist in Saturday’s Game 2 victory in Saskatoon.  The Hurricanes were 20-13-0-3 on home ice during the 2008-09 regular season.

The Blades allowed two goals on eight Hurricanes’ power play chances and were held scoreless on eight of their own power play opportunities in Saturday night’s Game 2 defeat at home.  Wintoneak scored his second goal of the post-season in Saturday’s loss.  The Blades owned an outstanding 28-6-1-1 record on the road during the regular season.

The Hurricanes will host Game 4 of the best-of-seven series on Wednesday night in Lethbridge, AB.

Elsewhere in Husky WHL Eastern Conference action on Tuesday, Kevin King and the Kootenay Ice host Matt Lowry and the Brandon Wheat Kings for Game 3 of their opening-round series.

The Ice trail the best-of-seven series 0-2 after losing two games to the Wheat Kings in Brandon on Friday and Saturday.  The Ice have been outscored 11-3 through the first two games of the series.

The Wheat Kings will look to tighten their grip on the Ice with a victory in Game 3 in Cranbrook, B.C., on Tuesday night.  Lowry was named the BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week after picking up a goal and five points in the opening two games of the series.

Brennan Bosch and the Medicine Hat Tigers welcome Keegan Dansereau and the Swift Current Broncos for Game 3 of their Husky WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final series on Tuesday night.

The Tigers evened up the best-of-seven series at 1-1 with Saturday’s 6-2 win over the Broncos in Swift Current after dropping a 4-2 decision in the series opener on Friday.  Bosch scored his 13th and 14th career playoff goals in Saturday’s win over the Broncos.

The Broncos allowed three goals on six Tigers’ power play opportunities in Saturday’s Game 2 loss in Swift Current.  The Broncos were one of three East Division teams to post 20 or more road wins during the regular season.

Marek Viedensky and the Prince George Cougars welcome Garry Nunn and the Vancouver Giants for Game 3 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Tuesday.

The Cougars trail the best-of-seven series 0-2 after losing two games to the Giants in Vancouver on Friday and Saturday.  The Cougars have been outscored 17-3 through the first two games of the series.

The Giants ran their record to 10-0 versus Prince George this season, including regular-season play, with their victories in the opening two games of the series.  Vancouver outshot Prince George 100-47 through the first two games of the series.

Kenton Dulle and the Kamloops Blazers host Jamie Benn and the Kelowna Rockets for Game 3 of their Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final series on Tuesday.

The Blazers trail the best-of-seven series 0-2 after suffering two defeats to the Rockets in Kelowna to open the series.  The Blazers have lost all 11 encounters with Kelowna this season, including regular-season meetings.

The Rockets posted wins of 4-2 and 5-1 over the Blazers on Friday and Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead into Tuesday’s Game 3 match-up.  Benn has tallied a goal and five points through the first two games of the series, giving him four goals and 16 points in just nine career post-season appearances.

In other Kal Tire WHL Western Conference quarter-final action on Tuesday, Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds host Drayson Bowman and the Spokane Chiefs for Game 3 of their first-round match-up.

The Thunderbirds evened up the best-of-seven series at 1-1 with Saturday’s 2-1 triumph in Spokane after losing the opening game of the series by the same score on Friday.  Pickard, a 16-year-old rookie netminder, has stopped 69 of 72 shots he has faced through the first two games of the series.

The defending WHL and Memorial Cup Champion Chiefs find themselves deadlocked at 1-1 with the T-Birds through the first two games of the best-of-seven series after splitting the opening two games in Spokane.  Bowman has scored all three of the Chiefs’ goals through the first two games.
