January 2006: Matt Keetley, MH Tigers

Calgary - The Western Hockey League today announced that goaltender Matt Keetley of the Medicine Hat Tigers has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January.

The 19-year-old forward from Medicine Hat, Alberta, was unbeaten in January with nine consecutive wins including an incredible four shutouts during the month. Keetley helped the Tigers move into 1st place overall in the Western Hockey League.

Keetley recorded a very impressive goals against average of 1.44, and a .945 save percentage. He allowed 13 goals on 235 shots in 540 minutes played, which is an average of 26 shots per game.

Keetley was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and is currently first among WHL goaltenders in wins and is tied for second in goals against average and save percentage. He also is 3rd in the WHL for shutouts, with six.

His accomplishments make Matt Keetley a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for January.
