MAY. 9, 2016 – MAY 15, 2016: ETHAN BEAR, SEATTLE THUNDERBIRDS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Seattle Thunderbirds defenceman Ethan Bear has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 15th, 2016.

Bear recorded five points in three games to go along with a plus three rating for the Thunderbirds in the 2016 WHL Championship Series.

On Tuesday, May 10th, Bear tallied an assist in the Thunderbirds 3-2 overtime loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings in Game 3 of the WHL Championship Series.  The following night, Bear had a strong outing as he recorded three points (1g-2a) to go along with a plus-4 rating and guided the Thunderbirds to a big 6-1 win in Game 4. Bear wrapped up the week with an assist on Friday, May 13th in Game 5 as the T-Birds dropped an 8-4 decision to the Brandon Wheat Kings who claimed the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions.

The 18-year-old native of Ochapowace, SK recorded 65 points (19g-46a) to go along with a plus-14 rating in 69 regular season contests. Furthermore, Bear led all WHL defenceman in post-season scoring with 22 points (8g-14a).  The 5-11, 197 lb defenceman completed his third WHL campaign with Seattle and has amassed 122 points (38g-84a) in 197 career WHL regular season contests.

MAY. 2, 2016 – MAY 8, 2016: TANNER KASPICK, BRANDON WHEAT KINGS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Tanner Kaspick has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 8th, 2016.

Kaspick notched the game winner for the Brandon Wheat Kings in Game 1 of the 2016 WHL Championship Series against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, May 6th at Westman Place.

Overtime was required in Game 1 of the WHL Championship Series as the score was tied at two goals apiece between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Seattle Thunderbirds. At the 6:22 mark of the extra frame, Kaspick netted the overtime winner to give the Wheat Kings a 3-2 victory and a 1-0 series cushion. The goal by Kaspick marked his fifth of the post-season and his heroics were enough to land him first star honours.

The 18-year-old native of Brandon, MB recorded 31 points (13g-18a) to go along with a plus-15 rating in 53 regular season contests. Furthermore, Kaspick was named the 2016 WHL Scholastic Player of the Year at the WHL Awards Luncheon last week in Calgary.  The 6-1, 202 lb forward is in his second WHL campaign with Brandon and has amassed 50 points (15g-35a) in 107 career WHL regular season contests.

APR. 25, 2016 – MAY 1, 2016: NOLAN PATRICK, BRANDON WHEAT KINGS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nolan Patrick has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 1st, 2016.

Patrick collected seven points and a plus-5 rating for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the final three games of the WHL Eastern Conference Championship against the Red Deer Rebels.

After suffering a 6-2 loss to the Rebels in Game 3 of the WHL Eastern Conference Championship on April 26th, Patrick and the Wheat Kings responded with a strong effort in Game 4 the following night. Patrick collected two assists as the Wheat Kings skated to a 4-2 victory over the Rebels to grab a 3-1 series cushion. On Friday, April 29th, Patrick was in on all five Wheat Kings’ goals as he notched a hat-trick and two assists in Brandon’s 5-2 nod over the Rebels in Game 5.  Patrick was named the game’s first star as the Wheat Kings advanced to the WHL Championship for the second straight year.

The 17-year-old native of Winnipeg, MB recorded 102 points (41g-61a) to go along with a stellar plus-51 rating in 72 regular season contests. His 24 playoff points (10g-14a) are tied for first amongst all WHL skaters. The 6-3, 195 lb forward is in his second WHL campaign with Brandon and has amassed 159 points (72g-87a) in 130 career WHL regular season contests.

APR. 18, 2016 – APR 24, 2016: SCOTT EANSOR, SEATTLE THUNDERBIRDS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Seattle Thunderbirds forward Scott Eansor has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 24th, 2016.

Eansor netted three goals, including two game winners for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the first two games of the WHL Western Conference Championship against the Kelowna Rockets this week.

On Friday, April 22nd against the Kelowna Rockets, Eansor buried the decisive game winner late in the second period of Game 1 as Seattle skated to a 2-1 victory. The following night, Eansor potted a pair of goals, including the game winner as Seattle clipped the Rockets by a score of 3-2 in Game 2 of the WHL Western Conference Championship. Eansor also earned a plus-2 rating and was named the game’s first star for his performance.

The 20-year-old native of Englewood, CO recorded 42 points (12g-30a) to go along with a plus-10 rating in 55 regular season contests while collecting nine points (7g-2a) in 11 post-season contests thus far. The 5-8, 172 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign with Seattle and has amassed 91 points (29g-62a) in 179 career WHL regular season contests.

 

APR 11, 2016 – APR 17, 2016: JAYDEN HALBGEWACHS, MOOSE JAW WARRIORS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Jayden Halbgewachs has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 17th, 2016.

Halbgewachs recorded eight points (5g-3a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in three games for the Moose Jaw Warriors this week.

On Tuesday, April 12th against the Brandon Wheat Kings, Halbgewachs notched a hat-trick and two assists to cap off a five point outing as the Warriors went on to win Game 3 by a 7-1 score. Halbgewachs was named the game’s first star for his impressive performance. The following night, Halbgewachs scored a goal in the Warriors 6-2 loss to the Wheat Kings in Game 4. On Friday, April 15th, Halbgewachs closed out his post-season with a goal and an assist for the Warriors who were eliminated by the Wheat Kings in Game 5 with a 7-3 loss.

The 19-year-old native of Emerald Park, SK recorded 41 points (15-26a) in 69 regular season contests while wrapping up the 2016 post-season with nine goals and 15 points. The 5-8, 159 lb forward is in his second WHL campaign with Moose Jaw and has amassed 50 points (19g-31a) in 133 career WHL regular season contests.

APR 4, 2016 – APR 10, 2016: IVAN PROVOROV, BRANDON WHEAT KINGS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings defenceman Ivan Provorov has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 10th, 2016.

Provorov recorded six points (2g-4a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in three games to propel the Brandon Wheat Kings to three straight playoff victories.

On Tuesday, April 5th against the Edmonton Oil Kings, Provorov notched two points (1g-1a) to go along with a plus-4 rating as the Wheat Kings knocked off the Oil Kings by a score of 10-3 to win their Round 1 series 4-2. On Friday, April 8th against the Moose Jaw Warriors, Provorov tallied a pair of assists in the Wheat Kings 5-3 victory to take Game 1 of their Round 2 match-up. The following night, Provorov was named the game’s first star as he recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Wheat Kings to a 5-2 win over Moose Jaw in Game 2.

The 19-year-old native of Yaroslavl, RUS finished the 2015-16 regular season as the League’s top scorer amongst defencemen with 73 points (21g-52a) and a plus-64 rating while appearing in 62 games. The 6-0, 200 lb defenceman is in his second WHL campaign with Brandon and has amassed 134 points (36g-98a) in 122 career WHL regular season contests.

MAR 28, 2016 – APR 3, 2016: ADAM BROOKS, REGINA PATS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 3rd, 2016.

Brooks recorded nine points (2g-7a) to go along with a plus-4 rating in three games to propel the Regina Pats to three straight victories against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Regina won the series 4-1.

On Tuesday, March 29th against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Brooks tallied three assists to claim first star honours as the Pats skated to a 3-2 win in Game 3. The following night, Brooks netted his fourth goal of the post-season as the Pats took Game 4 over the Hurricanes by a score of 2-0. On April 1st, Brooks capped off a productive week as he recorded five points (1g-4a) to lead the Pats to a 7-2 victory over the Hurricanes which clinched the series. Brooks was named the game’s third star for his efforts.

The 19-year-old native of Winnipeg, MB finished the 2015-16 regular season as the League’s top scorer with 120 points (38g-82a) and a plus-41 rating while appearing in all 72 games this season. Brooks currently leads all WHL skaters in post-season points with 14 (5g-9a). The 5-10, 175 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign and has amassed 205 points (76g-129a) in 251 career WHL regular season contests.

MAR 21, 2016 – MAR 27, 2016: VLADIMIR BOBYLEV, VICTORIA ROYALS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Victoria Royals forward Vladimir Bobylev has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 27th, 2016.

Bobylev recorded six points (0g-6a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in two games to propel the Victoria Royals to a 2-0 series lead over the Spokane Chiefs in their Round 1 match-up.

On Friday, March 25th against the Spokane Chiefs, Bobylev recorded three assists and a plus-3 rating to earn third star honours in the Royals 5-3 victory in Game 1. The following night, Bobylev continued to make plays on the ice as he tallied three assists to go along with a plus-2 rating in the Royals 4-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs in Game 2. Bobylev was named the game’s second star for his efforts.

The 18-year-old native of Lipestk, RUS finished the 2015-16 regular season with 67 points (28g-39a) and a plus-45 rating while appearing in all 72 games this season. The 6-2, 202 lb forward is in his second WHL campaign and has amassed 76 points (31g-45a) in 124 career WHL regular season contests.

MAR 14, 2016 – MAR 20, 2016: TYLER SOY, VICTORIA ROYALS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Victoria Royals forward Tyler Soy has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 20th, 2016.

Soy recorded nine points (5g-4a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in three games to lead the Victoria Royals to a perfect 3-0-0-0 record for the week.

On Wednesday, March 16th against the Kelowna Rockets, Soy recorded four points (1g-3a) to earn first star honours and lead the Royals to a 7-4 road win. On Friday, March 18th, Soy scored a pair of goals and added an assist to cap off a three-point outing as the Royals defeated the Everett Silvertips by a score of 4-2. Soy was named the game’s first star for his efforts. The following night, Soy capped off a productive week as he notched his 45th and 46th goals of the season to propel the Royals to a 4-1 nod over the Everett Silvertips in closing out the regular season.

The 19-year-old Cloverdale, BC native finished the 2015-16 regular season with 85 points (46g-39a) and a plus-34 rating while appearing in all 72 games this season. The 5-11, 172 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign with Victoria and has amassed 180 points (90g-90a) in 213 career WHL regular season contests.

MAR 7, 2016 – MAR 13, 2016: CHAD BUTCHER, MEDICINE HAT TIGERS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Medicine Hat Tigers forward Chad Butcher has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 13th, 2016.

Butcher recorded 10 points (3g-7a) in four games to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 3-1-0-0 record for the week.

On Wednesday, March 9th  against the Prince Albert Raiders, Butcher was in on all four goals as he recorded two goals and two assists to lead the Tigers to a 4-3 comeback victory. Butcher was named the game’s first star for his efforts. On Friday, March 11th, Butcher collected three points (1g-2a) to lead the Tigers to a 6-3 win over the Kootenay ICE and was named the game’s second star. The following night, Butcher tallied an assist in the Tiger’s 4-3 loss to the Kootenay ICE. On Sunday, March 13th, Butcher capped off an impressive week with two assists against the Calgary Hitmen to guide the Tigers to a 4-3 comeback victory.

The 20-year-old Kamloops, BC native has collected 72 points (27g-45a) rating in 69 games this season. The 5-10, 166 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Medicine Hat and has amassed 154 points (55g-99a) in 231 career WHL regular season contests.

FEB 29, 2016 – MAR 6, 2016: JAYCE HAWRYLUK, BRANDON WHEAT KINGS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 6th, 2016.

Hawryluk recorded 16 points (10g-6a) in four games to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a perfect 4-0-0-0 record for the week.

On Wednesday, March 2nd  against the Saskatoon Blades, Hawryluk recorded a career-high five goals and added an assist to cap off a six-point outing in Brandon’s 12-2 victory. Hawryluk also earned a plus-7 rating and was named the game’s first star. On Friday, March 4th, Hawryluk collected three points (1g-2a) to lead the Wheat Kings to a 6-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. The following night, Hawryluk recorded four points (2g-2a) to propel the Wheat Kings to a 7-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. On Sunday, March 6th, Hawryluk capped off an impressive week with another multiple point performance as he tallied three points (2g-1a) to earn second star honours in Brandon’s 8-1 victory over the Regina Pats.

The 20-year-old Roblin, MB native has collected 95 points (40g-55a) to go along with a solid plus-52 rating in 53 games this season and sits fourth overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-10, 194 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Brandon and has amassed 267 points (112g-155a) in 227 career WHL regular season contests.

FEB 22, 2016 – FEB 28, 2016: TYLER WONG, LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Tyler Wong has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 28th, 2016.

Wong recorded 10 points (3g-7a) in three games as the Lethbridge Hurricanes posted a 1-1-0-1 record for the week.

On Wednesday, February 24th against the Regina Pats, Wong recorded a career-high six points that included two goals and four assists in the Hurricanes 9-8 shootout loss to Regina. Wong was named the game’s second star for his performance.  On Friday, February 26th against the Brandon Wheat Kings, Wong tallied an assist as the Hurricanes fell to the Wheat Kings by a score of 5-2. The following night, Wong earned second star honours as he collected three points (1g-2a) to lead the Hurricanes to an 8-4 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The 20-year-old Cochrane, AB native has collected 79 points (37g-42a) to go along with a plus-15 rating in 63 games this season and sits tied for eighth in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-9, 171 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Lethbridge and has amassed 179 points (86g-93a) in 239 career WHL regular season contests.

FEB 15, 2016 – FEB 21, 2016: ADAM BROOKS, REGINA PATS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 21st, 2016.

Brooks recorded 13 points (5g-8a) in four games to lead the Regina Pats to a perfect record of 4-0-0-0 for the week.

On Monday, February 15th against the Swift Current Broncos, Brooks tallied an assist and scored the shootout winner as Regina prevailed with a 4-3 victory. On Wednesday, February 17th, Brooks lit the lamp three times to notch a hat-trick while also collecting an assist to lead the Pats to a 4-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders. The Regina Pats captain continued his impressive play with a career-high six points (2g-4a) against the Kootenay ICE on Friday, February 19th. Brooks also earned a plus-5 rating and first star mentions as the Pats came away with a 7-5 victory. On Sunday, February 21st, Brooks capped off a productive week as he notched two assists against the Edmonton Oil Kings in a 3-1 victory.

The 19-year-old Winnipeg, MB native has collected 97 points (33g-64a) in 58 games this season to sit second overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-10, 175 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Regina and has amassed 182 points (71g-111a) in 237 career WHL regular season contests.

FEB 8, 2016 – FEB 14, 2016: DRYDEN HUNT, MOOSE JAW WARRIORS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Dryden Hunt has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 14th, 2016.

Hunt recorded nine points (6g-3a) in three games to lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a perfect record of 3-0-0-0 for the week.

On Wednesday, February 10th against the Prince Albert Raiders, Hunt scored three times to pick up the hat-trick and claim first star honours as the Warriors earned a 4-2 victory. On Friday, February 12th, Hunt tallied two points (1g-1a) to help guide the Warriors to a 6-4 win against the Swift Current Broncos. The following night, Hunt capped off a productive week with a four point (2g-2a) outing against the Saskatoon Blades in a 7-4 victory. Hunt was named the game’s first star for his efforts.

The 20-year-old Nelson, BC native has collected 88 points (41g-47a) in 57 games this season to sit first overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 6-0, 201 lb forward is in his fifth WHL campaign and has amassed 221 points (100g-121a) in 254 career WHL regular season contests.

FEB 1, 2016 – FEB 7, 2016: IVAN PROVOROV, BRANDON WHEAT KINGS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings defenceman Ivan Provorov has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 7th, 2016.

Provorov recorded nine points (2g-7a) to go along with a plus-6 rating in three games to lead Brandon to a perfect record of 3-0-0-0 for the week.

On Tuesday, February 2nd against the Moose Jaw Warriors, Provorov recorded three points (1g-2a) and a plus-3 rating as Brandon knocked off Moose Jaw by a score of 6-2. On Friday, February 5th against the Prince George Cougars, Provorov was a play-maker on the ice as he tallied a career-high five assists to lead the Wheat Kings to a convincing 8-3 victory. Provorov was named the game’s first star for his performance. The following night, Provorov buried his 12th goal of the season to help lead the Wheat Kings to their third straight victory as they took down the Medicine Hat Tigers by a score of 6-2.

The 19-year-old Yaroslavl, RUS native has collected 50 points (12g-38a) in 43 games this season to sit third overall in scoring amongst WHL defencemen. The 6-0, 200 lb defenceman is in his second WHL campaign with Brandon and has amassed 111 points (27g-84a) in 103 career WHL regular season contests. Provorov was selected seventh overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2015 NHL Draft.

JAN 25, 2016 – JAN 31, 2016: CHASE WITALA, PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince George Cougars forward Chase Witala has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 31st, 2016.

Witala recorded seven points (3g-4a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in three games as Prince George sits in third place in the BC Division standings with a record of 30-18-2-1.

On Monday, January 25th against the Medicine Hat Tigers, Witala tallied an assist to go along with a plus-2 rating in the Cougars 4-3 loss. On Friday, January 29th, Witala scored a pair of goals, including his 30th of the season as Prince George fell to the Swift Current Broncos 4-3 in overtime. Witala was named the game’s second star for his efforts. The following night, Witala turned in a first star performance as he recorded four points (1g-3a) to lead the Cougars to a big 6-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The 20-year-old Prince George, BC native has collected 57 points (31g-26a) in 51 games this season to lead the Club in scoring. The 6-0, 170 lb forward is in his fifth WHL campaign with Prince George and has amassed 217 points (111g-106a) in 217 career WHL regular season contests.

JAN 18, 2016 – JAN 24, 2016: GIORGIO ESTEPHAN, LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Giorgio Estephan has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 24th, 2016.

Estephan recorded eight points (3g-5a) to go along with a plus-8 rating in three games to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a record of 3-0-0-0 for the week and extend their season-high win streak to 10 straight.

On Wednesday, January 20th against the Spokane Chiefs, Estephan was in on all four Hurricanes goals as he recorded four points (1g-3a) to guide Lethbridge to a 4-0 victory. Estephan also finished the game with a plus-4 rating and earned second star honours. On Saturday, January 23rd, Estephan recorded another multi-point performance with a goal and two assists to propel the Hurricanes to a 4-3 overtime victory against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Estephan was named the game’s first star for his efforts. The following night, Estephan scored the opening goal against the Edmonton Oil Kings which stood as the game winner in a 3-0 victory.

The 18-year-old Edmonton, AB native has collected 63 points (27g-36a) in 48 games this season to sit tied for seventh in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 6-0, 189 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign with Lethbridge and has amassed 139 points (63g-76a) in 179 career WHL regular season contests.

JAN 11, 2016 – JAN 17, 2016: REID GARDINER, PRINCE ALBERT RAIDERS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince Albert Raiders forward Reid Gardiner has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 17th, 2016.

Gardiner recorded seven points (3g-4a) to go along with a plus-5 rating in three games to lead the Prince Albert Raiders to a record of 2-0-1-0 for the week.

On Wednesday, January 13th against the Edmonton Oil Kings, Gardiner was involved in all three Prince Albert goals as he collected a goal and two assists to lead his team to a 3-1 victory. Gardiner was named the game’s first star for his efforts. On Friday, January 15th, Gardiner remained consistent on the score sheet as he recorded four points (2g-2a) to lead the Raiders to a 4-2 comeback win over the Kootenay ICE. Gardiner was once again named the game’s first star. The following night, Gardiner was held scoreless but earned a plus-1 rating as the Raiders fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime.

The 19-year-old Humboldt, SK native has collected 64 points (29g-35a) in 45 games this season to sit tied for fourth in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 5-11, 195 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign with Prince Albert and has amassed 192 points (92g-100a) in 236 career WHL regular season contests.

JAN 4, 2016 – JAN 10, 2016: ADAM HELEWKA, RED DEER REBELS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Red Deer Rebels forward Adam Helewka has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 10th, 2016.

Helewka recorded eight points (6g-2a) to go along with a plus-7 rating in four games to lead the Red Deer Rebels to a record of 2-0-1-1 for the week.

On Tuesday, January 5th against the Prince Albert Raiders, Helewka scored the game-winning goal as the Rebels defeated the Raiders by a score of 4-3. The following night, Helewka recorded three points (1g-2a) to lead the Rebels to a 5-0 shutout victory against the Saskatoon Blades. On Friday, January 8th, Helewka was named the game’s first star and scored the game-tying goal in the third period as the Rebels fell to the Hurricanes in a shootout. The following night, Helewka capped off an impressive week with another first-star performance as he netted a hat trick in the Rebels’ overtime loss to the Vancouver Giants.

The 20-year-old Burnaby, BC native has collected 41 points (23g-18a) in 24 total games so far this season, with 12 (7g-5a) coming  in five games since being acquired by Red Deer from Spokane. The 6-2, 200 lb forward is in his fourth WHL campaign and has amassed 205 points (100g-105a) in 215 career WHL regular season contests. Helewka was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

DEC 28, 2015 – JAN 3, 2016: ADAM BROOKS, REGINA PATS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats forward Adam Brooks has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 3rd, 2016.

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Portland Winterhawks forward Rihards Bukarts has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 13th, 2015.

Bukarts recorded seven points (6g-1a) in three games to propel the Portland Winterhawks to a record of 2-1-0-0 for the week.

On Wednesday, December 9th against the Everett Silvertips, Bukarts scored three goals to pick up the hat trick and also tallied an assist in the Winterhawks’ 7-5 victory. Bukarts was named the game’s first star for his performance. On Friday, December 11th, Bukarts netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Winterhawks came back to defeat the Prince George Cougars by a score of 5-4. NOV 30, 2015 – DEC 6, 2015: TYLER BENSON, VANCOUVER GIANTS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Vancouver Giants forward Tyler Benson has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 6th, 2015.

Benson recorded eight points (2g-6a) in four games to guide the Vancouver Giants to a record of 2-2-0-0 for the week.

On Wednesday, December 2nd against the Medicine Hat Tigers, the Giants captain notched a pair of assists to lead his Club to a 6-0 shutout victory. Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Justin Gutierrez has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 29th, 2015.

Gutierrez recorded six points (6g-0a) in three games to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a record of 3-0-0-0 for the week.

On Thursday, November 26th against the Kootenay ICE, Gutierrez scored his sixth goal of the season to help lead the Hurricanes to a 9-0 win. Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kelowna Rockets forward Tyson Baillie has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 22nd, 2015.

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Calgary Hitmen forward Jackson Houck has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 15th, 2015.

Houck recorded six points (0g-6a) in two games to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a pair of victories on home ice over the weekend.

NOV 2, 2015 – NOV 8, 2015: NICK MERKLEY, KELOWNA ROCKETS

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kelowna Rockets forward Nick Merkley has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 8th, 2015.

Merkley recorded eight points (4g-4a) in three games to help the Kelowna Rockets post a record of 3-0-0-0 for the week.

On Tuesday, November 3rd against the Tri-City Americans, Merkley scored twice including the game-winning goal to propel the Rockets to a 3-1 victory. Barzal recorded 10 points (1g-9a) in three games to help the Seattle Thunderbirds earn a record of 2-1-0-0 for the week.

On Tuesday, October 27th against the Brandon Wheat Kings, Barzal registered a season-high five points as he tallied five assists to go along with a plus-4 rating in the Thunderbirds 7-2 victory. Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince George Cougars forward Jesse Gabrielle has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 25th, 2015.

Gabrielle collected seven points (5g-2a) in four games to help the Prince George Cougars earn a record of 3-1-0-0 for the week.

On Tuesday, October 20th against the Calgary Hitmen, Gabrielle scored a pair of goals to earn third star honours in the Cougars 5-2 victory. Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Swift Current Broncos forward Jon Martin has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 18th, 2015.

Martin collected seven points (2g-5a) in three games for the Swift Current Broncos and recorded multiple point performances in all three contests.

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Point has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 11th, 2015.

Point collected nine points (5g-4a) in three games to help the Moose Jaw Warriors achieve a record of 2-0-0-1 and earn five out of a possible six points.
